Interested in Being a Player?
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

It's "very" important that you get familiar with this campaign blog "there will be a test later" . . . nah, just kidding on the test part lol, but trust me when I say, this blog was created for you, the player, so make use of it. This will be my first "modified" Old-School Essentials system that I've ever ran "since for pretty much my entire gaming life, I've ran Advanced Dungeons & Dragons exclusively".

▶ We will use Discord for Audio "only" & Roll20 for everything else. "please be familiar with Roll20"
▶ We are planning to play every other Saturday night 7-10pm EST "maybe a little longer depending on player schedules"
▶ We may be able to squeeze in the Friday before at times (players discretion)

Player Requirements
― We have a group chat in Facebook Messenger for all players. This is used to make communication simple between GM & players, it's kind of required. Request access to this chat group with DM James.
― Within a few days after each session ends, I will do a livestream on my TTRPG YouTube channel where we will do a recap. This livestream will have each person from our group who wishes to join using webcams. This is where we basically do an indepth recap of each session and interact with chat. Attendance is not mandatory, it is requested however but if you choose not to attend that is ok too. It will be a chill livestream of us sitting around together talking about our last play session and talking with chat, nothing too serious.
― I will need a picture of your own choosing to represent your character (for the blog ascetics of course) I will do a reskin of it to make it more realistic looking and add it to the blog.
― I'll need a short background, describing your character but you can elaborate as much as you want. Backgrounds help me tweak the story a little more to include your characters back story in our campaign.
― We use a slightly modified Old-School Essentials system "mainly to bring things up to 1st edition adventures standards". DM james will talk about this with you. Most of our games are on the "AD&D 1st edition" power scale for monsters and such so some slight adjustments have been made to classes to bring them up to spec but our core rules will remain Old-School Essentials.

Class Page: We have a wide selection of playable classes to choose from.
House Rules: We do have a few "quality of life" house rules to help make the game run a little smoother and be slightly more forgiving than it is in it's current form. These rules may change over time.
About Our Campaign: Here you can read all about our World of Greyhawk campaign.
Journals Page: This is where my players can find everything they need to know about our campaign.

▶ We are looking for mature adults as players.
▶ We are an east coast group.
▶ I do not fudge on dice rolls, whatever gets rolled, is rolled.
▶ We are not looking for rules lawyers that will debate every rule the DM says.
▶ Mistakes will be made by players and the DM, deal with it.
▶ We want friendly, chill players that simply want to have a fun night of gaming.
▶ I plan to run a very relaxed, friendly game for my players.

• You can reach me on Discord, make sure you introduce yourself and let me know who you are and how you found our Discord when you join.
Facebook: I rarely use Facebook but for our chat group I think we have to be friends before I can invite you to the chat group, not 100% on this and you can unfriend me once I bring you into the chat group if you want.
• Email: If all else fails, my email is jamesefullard@gmail.com

Important: Don't just blindly ask to join us, take the time to really go through the campaign blog & go through the links provided on this page. It's important that you understand exactly what this campaign involves, what rules we use, what house rules use along with everything else. If you don't bother reading about this campaign and just go straight into asking blind questions that are either "already" answered here or somewhere else on the blog, you're going to get turned away . . . "just saying". Everything on this campaign blog was put here "for you―the player" to use so please make use of it.

Rules
Other Games During Game Time: Look, be respectful and while we are playing D&D, don't have World of Warcraft pulled up in the background etc. etc. Either you want to play in our campaign or you don't. Just be respectful please, your DM puts in a lot of hard work to try and give his players a good solid game.
Be Mature: We are all adults, please ... let us all act like adults when we play.
Real Life Stuff: We don't bring "anything political from the real world" to our table, we basically don't bring anything from the real world into our games.
Pronouns: We don't do the pronoun silliness. When we sit down at the table, it's about the "game" and nothing else.
Please Show Up to Game Night: I understand "real life" is a bitch and we will have cancelations at times, but with us only playing twice a month without counting the "possible" Fridays before, we really need you to show up. I usually cancel games if someone does not show up. I hate playing with missing people.

▶ Make sure you as a player have read, explored & understand this "entire" page before requesting to join this group If everything you read here seems fine to you, please return to the Roll20 page and request to join our group.

Uth'Natha Inn
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Uth'Natha Inn is a two-floored inn, which has a variety of services of drow custom. The inn is open to the public, drow and non drow alike and is one of the more hospitable inns in Orthae Qu'lith that is open to anyone who wishes to visit and possibly rent a room for the night.

The inside of the ground floor is illuminated by green fungus that grows throughout the inn itself. It gives off a dull green glow which allows those without infravision to see normally while not hurting the eyes of drow.

The tavern has two floors. The first floor features two arenas which patrons could participate in combat. The winners got to keep the spoils of the duel, and may be rewarded with gold, depending on what was bet for that match. The same floor has a bar, with many tables and chairs, where customers can share stories of their lives, gossip and enjoy a well prepared meal.

Two arenas are present in the tavern. One is for fighting captured creatures (such as umber hulks and such), owned by Sorzdrin "his last name is unknown to outsiders", the owner of the inn, the other for duels between drow and even non drow. The second arena features battles between the same classes: "melee classes only". The bar serves drow beverages, Orbbz'hin, Kulg and Streea. They also sell surface beverages, such as bitter black ale and mead, but were incredibly expensive, most over ten times the cost of the normal drinks.

The back of the main floor holds a several lust chambers, for acts such as oil massages, and those that are more intimate. A large cage keeps a few drow prisoners, such as those who might have recently fallen out of favor of Lolth. A drow female watches over the cages. The other area of interest is a contraption that will transport a slave or enemy to a passageway far away from the city. People have been known to just mysteriously disappear and never be seen again.

Some drow spend a large amount of time in the tavern, either for work or leisure: it is a very popular locale within Orthae Qu'lith for drow as well as non drow.

We Focus on TTRPG's Here
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

As far as real world issues goes, we've never had to address these issues here and for that I am extremely thankful. We are not anything special here, just a group of gamers trying to have a good time and I think we've grown quite a bit which makes me happy. I hope that we can continue to grow and expand as time goes on! However there is a lot of turmoil going on in the outside world and I want to make something clear here.

We will not discuss matters of justice and equality here. We (and I, specifically) believe firmly that heroes of high fantasy settings would have never looked at anyone or anything and wondered . . . what do they identify as, are they gay or straight, what race, color or sex a person is/was, no, they wouldn't because it never would have came up and it will not come up on this blog or within my games. None of that matters here because we are all adults here and we treat people like adults.

We don't care about any of that silliness here, this is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign blog . . . it does not matter who you are, what you believe in, what color you are, what sex you are or were, none of that matters here and it will not be discussed here, so keep it to yourself.

If you feel the need to push any of that in peoples faces where this campaign is concerned then please go somewhere else, we are here to play tabletop games and nothing that happens in the real world matters here. You won't find people yelling at the world about what pronouns they use, or if they identify as a lamp shade in this group. We are not for it or against it - we simply don't care. This is a GAMING BLOG covering a Dungeons & Dragons setting and the stories that it holds. No one here cares about any of the above mentioned things, keep it to yourself and let us focus on the adventures that happen here.

If you disagree with this, feel free to leave this place and never come back. I hope you take the time to reflect on your beliefs and understand that what you believe in, should be none of anyone elses business, and people will not be forced to address you by your silly pronouns - keep it to yourself. Once again, this is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign blog and that is all that should matter to anyone who visits this website.

People that sit around our real world or virtual table are all grown ass adults and we don't give a damn about your pronouns or your real world politics & agendas. Now, with all that out of the way, we hope you enjoy your visit here and please feel free to say hello in our comments sections. We would love to meet you.

Bazaar
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Bazaar is the permanent market of Orthae Qu'lith located in the merchant district. Some considered the Bazaar the heart of Orthae Qu'lith. The Bazaar of Orthae Qu'lith attracts merchants and buyers from across the Underdark as well as the surface. Most races were welcome, not all but most, and as long as the peace was kept and proper respect was shown to matron mothers, someone can buy whatever they might desire here.

Many surface-dwelling merchants and trade goods pass through and some even remain in Orthae Qu'lith. All people of Orthae Qu'lith shop at the Bazaar, even some matron mothers at times. In the Bazaar one will find cobblers, riding lizards, duergar, kuo-toa, and ogre mages. Slaves included orcs, gnolls, bugbears, goblins, and kobolds. There is also at least one barber stall, a game tent, and a portrait painter. One can obtain surgery or send messages to the surface from the Bazaar. There are also performers on its busy streets. The Bazaar smells of surface produce, mulled wine, leather, frying oil, rothe dung, and blood.

No "new" permanent structures are allowed within the accepted limits of the Bazaar by order of the council. Places of business are to move at least every 66 days, so as to prevent monopolies on space and promote browsing, often making finding a particular stall very difficult. Trainee wizards, clerics, and warriors, in groups of 8-12 from their respected schools, patrolled the Bazaar, providing firm, yet unobtrusive law enforcement. Prices are always fluctuating due to supply and demand. Despite (or perhaps because of) the patrols, the Bazaar is home to many unlicensed and illicit activities.

Eastway District
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

This district serves as the exclusive market and bazaar of Orthae Qu'lith's noble houses, a place where wealth, status, and influence are displayed as openly as the goods offered for sale. Unlike the bustling merchant quarters frequented by commoners and foreign traders, this district caters solely to the city's aristocracy.

Elegant walkways, richly adorned storefronts, and lavish displays of merchandise create an atmosphere of opulence designed to remind all visitors of the superiority of the noble houses that control the city. The goods available within the district are among the finest and rarest found anywhere in the Underdark. Master-crafted weapons and armor, exquisite jewelry, rare silks, imported surface luxuries, and exotic creatures can all be found within its markets.

Merchants who operate here are expected to maintain the highest standards, for even the slightest flaw in quality can ruin a reputation. Prices are far beyond the means of ordinary citizens, ensuring that only the wealthy and powerful can regularly conduct business within its boundaries.

Among the district's most sought-after commodities are magical items and arcane services. While powerful artifacts are rarely displayed openly, select merchants maintain private showrooms where favored clients may browse enchanted weapons, protective charms, rare spell scrolls, and other magical curiosities. Wizards, alchemists, and enchanters quietly compete for noble patronage, often offering exclusive services unavailable elsewhere in the city. Rumors persist that some merchants possess relics so rare that even the matron mothers must negotiate carefully to acquire them.

Access to the district is strictly controlled and reserved exclusively for drow. Outsiders, surface dwellers, and non-drow races are forbidden from entering under any circumstances. Guards loyal to the noble houses patrol the streets and entrances, ensuring that this law is rigidly enforced. To the drow aristocracy, the district represents more than a marketplace—it is a symbol of their wealth, privilege, and dominance over Orthae Qu'lith, a place where status determines worth and where the ambitions of the city's most powerful families are bought, sold, and negotiated.

Fane of Lolth
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Fane of Lolth is a underground temple, set into the side of the cavern wall far above the cavern floor dedicated to the Queen of Spiders located in the southeastern section of Orthae Qu'lith. It can be found deep within the walls of the Underchasm, known as the Edge of the Underdark, the passageways and caves that are situated above the Eastdark.

The temple is comprised of a stone-floored hall with a vaulted ceiling, branching off from drow-dug tunnels and subterranean outposts. On either side of the temple's walls are a series of stone statues that each depict the likeness of a drow priestess carrying a staff in one hand, as her other was set forward as if to receive an item. Six lit braziers were set between the statues, five of which held blue flames while the sixth contained natural, orange-red fire. The entire main chamber of the temple is usually always lit with candles "forcing drow to revert to normal vision".

At the head of the temple is a massive shrine that is comprised of dark metal and stone construction with a massive black obsidian spider hovering overhead as if hanging from spider webs. The shrine is set within an ominous-looking piece of drow metalwork, set in dark obsidian with a ritualistic stained glass window set in the back adorned with engravings and gems of violet hue.

The temple is a place of worship where drow can properly pay tribute to the Spider-Queen Lolth. It also houses at least one history book that outlines the ancient history of the Drow religion of the goddess Lolth.

Alton's Escorts
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Elstearn's Escorts is a respected hireling agency located in the West Wall neighborhood on the northern side of Orthae Qu'lith. The establishment occupies an elegant stone building adorned with fine drow craftsmanship and serves a wide range of clientele from across the city. While its reputation is largely built upon providing companionship and personal entertainment, the agency has developed into a far more sophisticated enterprise over the years.

The business is owned and operated by the wealthy drow entrepreneur Veldrin Coberel, whose discretion and professionalism have made Elstearn's Escorts one of the most successful establishments of its kind in the city. The agency offers the services of intelligent, attractive, and well-mannered drow escorts of both genders.

Many patrons seek companionship for private evenings, celebrations, or social engagements, and the agency maintains a carefully selected roster of individuals trained in etiquette, conversation, and the customs of Orthae Qu'lith's noble society. Clients ranging from wealthy merchants to minor nobles frequently employ escorts to accompany them at banquets, religious ceremonies, and political gatherings where appearances can be just as important as influence.

Beyond companionship, Elstearn's Escorts provides a surprising array of specialized services. Several of the agency's hirelings are highly educated and possess talents useful to visiting merchants, diplomats, and travelers. Skilled guides can escort newcomers through the often confusing streets and districts of Orthae Qu'lith, while interpreters assist foreign visitors in navigating the city's customs and languages. Some escorts are accomplished conversationalists and negotiators who can represent clients during social functions where diplomacy and charm are required.

For those seeking protection rather than company, the agency also maintains a cadre of capable bodyguards and escorts trained in self-defense and urban security. These professionals are frequently hired to accompany merchants carrying valuable goods, visitors traveling through dangerous districts, or nobles wishing to move discreetly through the city. On occasion, Elstearn's hirelings are even contracted to guide clients through the tunnels and caverns surrounding Orthae Qu'lith. Through its combination of companionship, expertise, and security services, Elstearn's Escorts has become an institution whose influence extends far beyond its outward reputation.

The Commons
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Commons, often referred to by locals as Manyfolk, is one of the largest and most densely populated districts within Orthae Qu'lith. Surrounding both the bustling Bazaar and the immense chasm known as the Undercity, the district serves as the economic and social heart of everyday drow life. Its narrow streets twist between towering stalagmites that have been hollowed out and transformed into three-story homes, workshops, and businesses.

Although crowded and lively, regular patrols of city guards and house soldiers help maintain order, discouraging all but the most discreet forms of criminal activity. Unlike many other districts within the city, the Commons is known for its remarkable diversity.

Drow from every station of life can be found here, from wealthy merchants and artisans to laborers and common tradesfolk. The district is home to countless family houses, both noble and common, many of which have maintained residences in the area for generations. Nearly every common-born drow in Orthae Qu'lith either lives in the Commons or traces their ancestry back to its winding streets and crowded neighborhoods.

The Commons is also one of the few places within the city where non-drow residents can live and conduct business with relative safety. Merchants, craftsmen, mercenaries, and travelers from numerous Underdark races have established homes and businesses here, contributing to the district's vibrant atmosphere. While noble-born drow often view these outsiders with suspicion or disdain, most residents of the Commons treat them with practical tolerance. However, strict religious laws remain firmly enforced, and no deity other than Lolth may be openly worshipped within the district's boundaries.

The district's central location makes it one of the busiest areas in Orthae Qu'lith. Residents from neighboring districts, particularly the North Wall, regularly visit the Commons to shop, conduct business, and seek entertainment. The streets are filled with vendors, food stalls, craftsmen, and merchants selling goods from across the Underdark and beyond. The constant flow of people, commerce, and information has made the Commons not only a center of trade, but also a place where rumors, opportunities, and ambitions spread quickly throughout the city.

Alchemist Shop
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Nestled among the winding streets of the Commons, Dendra's Alchemical Emporium is immediately recognizable by the sweet, earthy fragrance that drifts from its open doorway. The interior is crowded with shelves, tables, and hanging racks overflowing with carefully bundled herbs suspended from the ceiling to dry. Glass jars filled with colorful powders, crystalline minerals, preserved fungi, and strange alchemical ingredients line every available surface.

The warm glow of violet faerie-fire lanterns reflects through hundreds of bottles and vials, casting shifting hues throughout the shop. Dendra has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable alchemists in Orthae Qu'lith.

Her shop specializes in practical remedies and useful concoctions that appeal to commoners, merchants, travelers, and adventurers alike. Healing salves, antitoxins, restorative tonics, herbal teas, and mild alchemical potions are among her most popular wares. While her prices are considered fair by local standards, customers quickly learn that Dendra values honesty and courtesy far more than wealth or status.

Unlike many alchemists found elsewhere in the Underdark, Dendra refuses to openly sell poisons or substances intended solely for murder and intrigue. This stance has earned her both admiration and criticism within drow society. Nevertheless, she does offer a selection of what she refers to as "vermin deterrents" and pest-control compounds for customers dealing with spiders, cave vermin, or other unwanted creatures. Those familiar with Underdark customs often suspect that some of these mixtures could serve other purposes in the right hands, though Dendra rarely comments on such matters.

In addition to her regular inventory, Dendra occasionally acquires far rarer alchemical creations through special commissions and personal contacts. Adventurers seeking uncommon potions, unusual magical elixirs, or specialized remedies may place requests, though obtaining such items often requires patience and substantial payment. Dendra is also known to purchase rare herbs, exotic fungi, monster organs, venom sacs, and other unusual ingredients brought to her by explorers returning from the depths of the Underdark. As a result, her shop has become a frequent gathering place for adventurers, traders, and alchemists seeking both knowledge and opportunity.

The Undercity
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Undercity is a vast and ominous chasm that dominates the very heart of Orthae Qu'lith. Descending far below the city's streets and districts, the rift is a place of perpetual darkness where the sounds of chains, distant voices, and dripping water echo endlessly through the depths. To many citizens, the Undercity serves as a constant reminder of the foundations upon which drow civilization is built—power, conquest, and slavery.

Massive stone bridges, narrow walkways, and carved tunnels crisscross the abyss, connecting countless platforms and chambers carved directly into the walls of the chasm. At the center of the rift lies its most feared region, known simply as the Deep. This vast gulf plunges farther into the earth than any other part of the Undercity, disappearing into darkness beyond the reach of even drow vision.

Strange noises often drift upward from below, and countless rumors surround what may dwell in its depths. Some claim ancient creatures lurk there, while others believe forgotten tunnels lead to regions of the Underdark that even the drow have never fully explored.

Much of the Undercity is devoted to the housing and management of slaves captured during raids upon the surface and neighboring Underdark settlements. Noble houses maintain extensive slave pens throughout the chasm, each heavily guarded and secured behind iron gates and enchanted barriers. Thousands of captives pass through these holding areas over the course of a year, awaiting assignment to labor details, private ownership, sacrificial ceremonies, or sale to interested buyers. The sight of chained prisoners being marched along elevated walkways is a common occurrence throughout the district.

Surrounded on all sides by the Commons District, the Undercity serves as the center of Orthae Qu'lith's thriving slave trade. Merchants, house representatives, mercenary captains, and wealthy buyers regularly gather within its markets to negotiate purchases and inspect new arrivals. Auction platforms and trading halls are scattered throughout the upper levels of the chasm, where fortunes are made and lost through the buying and selling of living beings. Though many citizens rarely descend into its depths, the Undercity remains one of the most economically important and politically influential locations in the entire city.

The Dancing Dwarf
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Dancing Dwarf is a large and welcoming inn located in the Commons district of Orthae Qu'lith. A wooden sign depicting a smiling female dwarf raising a flagon hangs above the entrance, inviting travelers inside. Known throughout the city for its excellent food and drink, the inn attracts merchants, adventurers, traders, and visitors of nearly every race.

Unlike many establishments in the city, the Dancing Dwarf maintains an atmosphere where non-drow guests can feel reasonably comfortable, making it one of the most popular gathering places in Orthae Qu'lith. The inn is owned and operated by Toblen Stoneheim, a surface dwarf who journeyed into the Underdark seeking fortune and adventure.

Realizing he possessed far greater talent for hospitality than mining or exploration, Toblen established the Dancing Dwarf and gradually built it into a thriving business. Friendly and approachable, he welcomes customers with a smile but enforces the inn's rules without hesitation. His reputation for fairness and professionalism has earned him the respect of both drow and non-drow alike.

The main floor consists of a spacious common room filled with tables, comfortable seating, and a large bar where patrons gather to share stories, conduct business, and exchange local gossip. The inn is famous for its high-quality meals, many of which feature ingredients imported from the surface, including venison, salmon, goose, pheasant, and fine wines, ales, and meads. While prices are somewhat higher than average, most customers consider the quality and atmosphere well worth the cost.

Twelve guest rooms occupy the upper floor, providing comfortable accommodations for travelers visiting the city. Over the years, the Dancing Dwarf has become a favorite destination for visiting merchants, important guests from the surface, and even many local drow. Despite difficult periods, including disruptions caused by war with a neighboring drow city, the inn has remained prosperous. Today, Toblen enjoys a successful life in Orthae Qu'lith and considers the city his true home, with little desire to ever return permanently to the surface.

The Grove
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Grove is the agricultural district of Orthae Qu'lith, situated along the eastern edge of the immense cavern that houses the city. Surrounding the shores of Dark Lake, this region is often referred to as the "Granary of Orthae Qu'lith" due to its vital role in supplying food to the city's population. Unlike most districts of the city, the Grove contains relatively few drow residents.

Instead, the area is worked primarily by slaves and lesser races tasked with maintaining the farms, herds, and fisheries that sustain the city. The damp air, rich soil, and constant moisture from the lake create ideal conditions for Underdark agriculture. Much of the district is covered by sprawling mushroom forests, carefully cultivated fungus farms, and extensive moss beds.

Irrigated dungbeds provide nutrients for countless varieties of edible fungi, while towering mushrooms rise above the fields like natural trees. One large moss bed located upon an island within Dark Lake serves as grazing land for the city's rothé herds, while another along the shoreline produces rare and highly prized delicacies enjoyed by wealthy drow. The combination of fungus cultivation and livestock management makes the Grove one of the most productive areas in the entire city.

Along the shores of Dark Lake stand numerous pens and enclosures used for breeding and housing animals. Deep rothé are raised in large numbers for meat, milk, leather, and labor, while more exotic livestock occasionally find their way into the district through trade with the surface. Mountain sheep, unusual Underdark beasts, and other rare creatures can sometimes be found among the holdings. The damp climate and abundant food sources allow these animals to thrive despite the harsh environment of the Underdark.

The daily operation of the Grove falls largely to orc and goblin overseers, who watch over the herds and laborers on behalf of their drow masters. On the Isle of Rothé, herders manage grazing animals while goblin fishermen navigate Dark Lake on crude rafts, harvesting fish and eels from its dark waters. The district is not without danger, however. Carrion crawlers lurk near the dungbeds, and cave fishers often stalk the rocky shorelines around the moss farms. Despite these hazards, the Grove remains one of the most important districts in Orthae Qu'lith, providing the food and resources necessary for the city's continued prosperity.

Tier Breche is located in a multi-sectioned cavern housing the various academies of Orthae Qu'lith, which consists of Fane of Lolth (the clerical school), Sorcere (the wizarding school), and Melee Academy (the fighters' school).

Tier Breche is technically the name of the cavern where the various schools and training centers are located, but in common usage "Tier Breche" often referrs to the Academy itself. Tier Breche is a large side cavern off the main city cavern and consists of the highest point in the city of Orthae Qu'lith.

Additionally, two large spider statues can be animated to protect the Academy. It houses the three school complexes, which are carved from stalagmites and rock. The Melee Academy, shaped like a pyramid, is located in the east. Sorcere, a many-spired tower, is located near the western wall. Arach-Tinilith, a spider-shaped complex and the largest of the three schools, both in terms of physical and numerical size, is located at the west of the cavern. A large staircase connects Tier Breche with the main city cavern. Two sentries, generally former students of Melee-Magthere, stand guard at the twin pillars.

There are magical wards around Tier Breche that are designed to keep out unfriendly spirits; when breached, the wards sound a loud alarm. Additionally, two large spider statues can be animated to protect the Academy. There is a tunnel to Tier Breche that gives access from outside the city. Once through the tunnel, a cavern opens up "much like a common area" that has three different exits that goes to each academy.

Generally, students who enter one of the schools in Tier Breche were not allowed to leave until that individuals training is completed.
