Erelhei-Cinlu
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Erelhei-Cinlu is a massive Drow city-state located in the heart of the Underdark, within the Vault of the Drow. It is the principal city of the drow, built after the wars between the light elves and dark elves, and uncounted centuries old. Just the sheer mention of the city brings feer to those who are not native to this city.

House Eilservs was long the most powerful of Erelhei-Cinlu's noble houses, and long believed that the city should be ruled by a single queen of their house.

When the other noble houses allied against the Eilservs to prevent this from happening, the Eilservs renounced the worship of the demon queen Lolth, turning instead to an Elder Elemental God - Tharizdun. They then attempted to establish a puppet kingdom in the surface world dedicated to the worship of their new deity, hoping this would bring them enough power that their claims to supreme power in the Vault could no longer be denied.

This scheme was thwarted by a band of adventurers. The same adventuring party then entered the Vault itself and assaulted the Eilservs estates and the Great Fane of Lolth itself. In the aftermath the Eilservs were ruined, their wealth and power shattered, and vengeful priestesses of Lolth turned on them to exile what remained. Many fled to the lesser drow city of Angrimm, which was subsequently overrun by the ghouls of the White Kingdom.

Erelhei-Cinlu lies in a huge cavern, over six miles long and nearly as wide, beneath the Hellfurnaces known as the Vault (also known as the Vault of the Drow). A huge chunk of tumkeoite on the ceiling of the Vault gives the appearance of an alien moon, whilst much smaller deposits of other exotic minerals give one the impression of an starry night sky. Major bodies of water within the Vault include the Pitchy Flow, the Weeping Spring that flows north and west into it, and the Mere of Glooms in the midst of the Weeping Spring.

Much of the Vault is filled with forests of lichens, crystalline growths, and fungi. Merchant estates are scattered south of the city, as are fortresses for the male and female orders of warriors. The city itself is built on the southern bank of the Pitchy Flow in the northern corner of the Vault. A single structure, the Flying Bridge, connects Erelhei-Cinlu with the other side of the Pitchy Flow. Across the river is a plateau containing the estates of the noble houses, and a tunnel leading to the Great Fane of Lolth.

The city of Erelhei-Cinlu is surrounded by a 40-foot-tall wall of seamless polished basalt, interrupted by 40-foot square towers at regular intervals. On the shores of the river, the wall is 50 feet high and without towers; the river wall is the exclusive domain of female soldiers.

The buildings of Erelhei-Cinlu are alien and strangely disturbing to human eyes, its streets narrow and crooked. Erelhei-Cinlu boasts a population of some 27,000 souls. 74% of these are drow, 5% are troglodytes, 2% are bugbears, 4% are surface dwellers, 1% are mind flayers, 2% are trolls, 2% are yugoloths, 3% are demons, 5% are orcs and 2% are goblin.

The principal religion of Erelhei-Cinlu is the worship of Lolth, the Spider Queen, whose greatest temple on Oerth is the Great Fane. Other deities worshiped by the drow of Erelhei-Cinlu include Keptolo, who is Lolth's Eager Consort, Kiaransali, and Zinzerena.

Keptolo's temple is found in the center of the Concourse, where the main streets of the city intersect like the nexus of a web. The priesthood of Kiaransali is dominant in the Ghetto of Chattels, though always under the supervision of Lolth's priestesses.

The Great Fane of Lolth is located in a separate cavern; worshipers must leave the city and cross the Pitchy Flow and the nobles' estates to reach it. In the Ghetto of Foreigners, along the Street of Lies, the drow permit the temples of deities worshiped by other races, including Nerull, Boccob, Ralishaz, Incabulos, Erythnul, Beltar, Raxivort, Vecna, and Tharizdun, though the temple of Tharizdun is more of a museum than an active place of worship (Dragon #298, 77). After the resurrection of Orcus, one of his temples is said to be found here as well. The drow speak their own dialects of the Elven language mixed with Undercommon, the common tongue of the Underdark.

Ruling Houses
1) House Eilservs
2) House Kilsek
3) House Despana
4) House Noquar
5) House Everhate
6) House Godeep
7) House Tormtor
8) House Aleval

Drow often use Elven and Undercommon interchangeably, creating an effective pidgin language at times. Other races who come to the Vault of the Drow, including duergar, illithids, humans, and others, have their own languages but Undercommon serves as the lingua franca for trade.

A road leading from nearby tunnels and caverns opens from a fissure in the Vault's southern wall, leading past a fortress called the Black Tower a mile north before reaching the city proper. All non-citizens must stop at the Tower to be inspected; they are given green silk cloaks to indicate that they have been cleared. Foreigners without these cloaks are normally killed or enslaved by the drow in short order.

Noalith Mei'q
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Noalith Mei'q (pronounced: Noah-Lith-MAY-Q), which means "Neutral Trading" is a small trading outpost situated in an underground cavern three miles below the surface. Its exact location is not known by many from the surface. The nearest drow settlement is Erelhei-Cinlu which is over thirty miles away to the south.

This trade outpost is a black market located somewhere in the "Middledark" away from any major Underdark settlements. It is a meeting point for traders, vendors and travelers of all Underdark races who come together on neutral territory. Its location is known to few only and safe passage to it is rare. Adventurers from the surface often use it as a basis for deeper explorations.

Noalith Mei'q has endured for centuries as a neutral outpost where Drow, duergar, svirfneblin, and surface dwellers can meet and trade without fearing for their lives. Despite its usefulness and the safety it enjoys. Noalith Mei'q has never become a proper town. Those who maintain it as a trade hub have resisted any urge for expansion, apart from installing basic infrastructure to assist with commercial activities.

The outpost is a free trade outpost and a major trading hub in the Underdark. It’s known as the Outpost of Tears because of the constant, ever-present rain "condensation from Darklake" that falls in and around the outpost. Built inside of a massive stone column (and surrounding stalactite structures), the outpost is a haven for pirates, outcasts, and entrepreneurs alike. Many merchants and traders have carved out decent lives for themselves here, and it is generally more safe here than the wilds of the Underdark.

The outpost is roughly thirty days' travel from Mantol-Derith, and 40+ days from any other settlement. Thousands of years' worth of trickling water carved out the cavern where the drow, duergar, and svirfneblin established Noalith Mei'q. Multiple warehouses have been excavated at the corners of the cavern, each controlled by an enclave and containing offices and temporary lodgings for its merchants. The location of Noalith Mei'q is a well-guarded secret, and the influence and power merchants gain from access to it isn’t something they want to share.

Normally, life in Noalith Mei'q is regulated by three simple covenants: no stealing of goods from fellow merchants, no disguising of goods by any means, and no use of magic during negotiations and haggling. The punishment for breaking any covenant is equally straightforward: the violator is wrapped in chains and tossed into the Blacklake which is near the settlement.

The outpost is located in a large natural cavern and it is heavily guarded and protected by strong magic. The cavern is naturally formed by water because of its proximity to the Blacklake, and is filled with waterfalls, pools, and streams. Its walls are filled with multicolored crystals and gems. Bridges across the various streams are carved from crystal. The outpost itself is primarily comprised trade caravans and campsites. At most times it has small groups of merchants of many races: drow, illithid, svirfneblin, and duergar. Bugbear mercenaries are often spotted here as well.

Notable Locations
The Nameless Inn
Tenements
Warehouses

This outpost is a major tradehub for much of the Underdark, Noalith Mei'q is one of the few bustling economies below the surface. The Blacklake provides a multitude of fish, and the naturally growing mushrooms which bloom in the central market are harvested for their nutritious internal stalks.

Government
The outpost does not have a formal form of governance, but a leader from each of the four major factions "Drow from House Drez`lyn, Illithid, Svirfneblin and Duergar" was appointed to solve disputes when they arise. The only certain laws of the city are the strict prohibition of magic used in altering goods for sale, trade negotiations, or disguising one's self through magic.

Defenses
The trade outpost is heavily guarded with two sets of permanent mercenary guards and a force of Drow from the city of Orthae Qu'lith appointed by House Drez`lyn.

Patisserie Shoppe
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Orlane Patisserie Shoppe is a bakery and home of the Chessa family in Orlane. It is owned and ran by a pair of talented bakers known as Jemma and her husband Jameson.

The shop stands next to the Inn of the Slumbering Serpent which gives this establishment a lot of business. The building is a small bakery, and surprisingly well stocked for a settlement of this small size, with the front of the shop facing the main street that goes through the center of Orlane. It has a small cellar for storing supplies, with the ground floor given over to the business and upper floor used as the family home.

The ground floor has two main sections. The front of the building is the store and is open to the public. Here, a counter ringed the room with large cabinets displaying the day's wares; there is also a bread bin. A corridor leads to the back of the the building. The cellar of the building is used for storage, holding ingredients. At the rear was the kitchen and preparation area, with a large oven, cooling racks, and work bench. The oven is magical (and the only true magic item in the building), being able to automatically adjust its temperature so everything was baked to perfection.

The bakery has a small dining room at the front of the shop. Upstairs is a small living area, furnished with two couches, rug, and bookcase with a small bedroon in the back. Off of it is a bathroom with bathtub. The shop as a whole is very cosy and confortable and it very popular with the residents of Orlane. At times the shop has been known to have customers from outside Orlane . . . the Patisserie Shoppe is known throughout the region & surrounding settlements.

Golden Grain Inn
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

This is a large wooden inn. It is decorated with carvings of sheaves of wheat along the eaves of the roof. The inn was whitewashed at one time, but much of the paint has peeled. A sign picturing a cluster of wheat and a pitcher of beer or ale hangs over the door. A corral and stable, apparently empty and unused, are off to the side.

The Owner, Bertram Beswill is usually found here during business hours. He tends to be rather grumpy and unsociable in his old age to most people and most of the locals don't think much of him and tend to stay away.

The Golden Grain inn doesn't seem like an unwelcoming establishment, it's just not much to look at, most say it gets a bad reputation due to the owners personal attitude towards others. The dining area has two fireplaces but they mostly stay unlit. Food and drink are available here, but the quality is poor and the prices are nothing short of outrageous.

The Golden Grain Inn is owned by a dwarf named Bertram Beswill, whose rude demeanor reflects the quality (or lack thereof) of the establishment itself. It is the favored watering hole for cruder folk, and caters mostly to those who are not locals. The bar is poorly maintained, and townsfolk are known to dissuade visitors from going there.

The main taproom is smokey and dirty. There is hay strewn across the room, and by the look of it has not been changed for a while: all sorts of stains and discolorations mark the floor. Broken-down tables and benches barely hold together. The walls are covered with hunting trophies, countless antlers, and a few stuffed heads, some of them well past their best. A moth-eaten head of a bear hands from the wall behind the rustic bar. It does have a upper level to the main floor with more tables.

There are only two other rooms on the ground floor:
- a backroom that serves as Bertram's 'quarters': the room is as dirty and unkempt as the taproom itself. A small single bed is tucked in a corner, a desk full of papers and empty bottles sits beside the small fireplace. It is dark, dingy, and smells really bad.
- the other room is a barn with old straw and empty stalls. The beer barrels are kept in a small room in the back of the kitchen..

Mayor's Residence
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

This small building is the Mayor's residence in Orlane, the center of government in the settlement which is where one might find Mayor Zakarias Ormond during the day time hours when he is not out and about the settlement. This location is also the public meeting place for any important meeting that requires the mayor's attention. The mayor's office is located in the center of Orlane.

This house is set well back from the road, and is partially screened by a pair of medium-sized elms. This is by far the most imposing house in the village. The walls have been regularly whitewashed and the roof gleams with new wooden shingles. A wide porch crosses the entire front of the house, and columns of wood support the overhanging roof. The columns have been carved into leafy patterns by a skilled craftsman.

The office is used for multiple purposes but is mainly used for meetings and such with a sturdy oak table with chairs seated around it. A large hearth warms the entire office during the colder months of the year. The mayor will meet here monthly with most of the prominent business owners in town to discuss matters of importance. A large designer rug lay across most of the center of the room with well-made furniture and such spread across the room.

All rewards for completed jobs from the job board located just outside the entrance are paid out of the mayor's office by the mayor himself. Outsiders will never gain access without first getting permission. The second floor is mainly used as the lord mayor's home. A small hearth is in the back of the room which is independent from the one downstairs. The upstairs room is a simple room, with only the basic necessities. Zakarias Ormond spends very little time here except for getting needed sleep.

Let's Get Something Straight
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

I understand this is a D&D TTRPG blog and "after this post" it will remain a D&D Blog that is free from any outside political news/views but I have something I want to put out to make it perfectly clear who this group is, what we stand for and what we refuse to allow in our group. I've already made a post talking about the pronoun idiocy here so we will not rehash that in this new post.

What I will do is inform anyone who is new here what we have zero tolerance for. We don't want anything to do with leftwing politics and anti-American points of view . . . kind of like what is going on in California right now. It's really sad what is going on in the state, but let us point something out, it's a Democratic state, or a "blue state", and if you notice all this stupidty that is going on in the United States is being done in blue states, not red states. This should tell you something.

If you agree with what is going on in the picture I dropped here, then please find you another D&D blog to visit because we don't want you here. It's just sad to see people that "claim" to be Americans doing this kind of shit, or supporting it in any fashion. Democrats will always tell you that they are the side of peace and love and that Republicans are hateful and racist but across the US in multiple blue states, it's the Democrats that are rioting in the streets, keep that in mind.

Every one of these idiots needs to be arrested and locked away in prison for the rest of their life or deported to whatever flag they are waving in this riot, yes I said riot because "this" is not what a protest looks like. I don't care if you disagree with what I just said here, you can just leave and never return because we don't suport this stupidity and don't want to have anything to do with anyone who does support this stuff.

Let us put things into perspective shall we? These people in this picture are rioting because they do not supprt ICE arrecting/deporting illegal immigrants that crossed into our country "illegally". Now let's break it down even further. Illegal immigrants "snuck" across our borders and entered with going through due process. This is a "crime". Let's break it down even further . . . what is the difference in breaking into our country with permission than breaking into someones home without permission . . . *oh oh, raises hand, pick me, pick me*—there is no difference, both are crimes. Either way is perfectly acceptable if you get permission first, not kicking down the door and forcing your way in like illegals did. All of these "idiots" waving the Mexican flag around so proudly, take your asses back to Mexico then.

To make it as clear as I can possibly make it . . . fuck your pronouns, fuck anyone who hates America, if you support this kind of violence shown in the picture here, we don't want you here and yes, I voted for Trump "as did our American group members, we also fully support him and his policies—if you don't like or approve of this . . . not a single fuck is given across the land. If this offends you, well, I guess you'll just have to be offended.

We are "normal" people here, we are not trying to force out political ideals on to anyone else, as a matter of fact, we have a standing rule in our Discord server that says "No politics is allowed" so keep it to yourself. As I said, if you don't like what we stand for here, then leave and never come back. God bless America and god bless President Trump. Keep sending ICE in to get these criminals out of our country. The Left keeps saying they are the party of love and peace . . . lol ok.

Teagel Manor

The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax
Eighteen years ago, Teagel Manor "located south of Orlane, near the northern part of the Oyt Forest", was the residence of Lord Vincent Teagel, a local lord and former adventurer who eventually retired, built an extravagant manor house for himself to live out the rest of his days in peace, living off of his accumulated wealth from his days of slaying monsers and killing dragons.

Eleven years ago, lord Teagel dissappeared without a trace never to be heard from again. His disappearance came as a shock to those who knew him because he frequently visited the settlement of Orlane to visit friends and then one day, he was just gone. For a time, a search and investigation was conducted but with no success.

No clues were found to explain his disappearance and eventually everyone gave up on finding him. The manor has sat empty for just over eleven years and over time many foul creatures have been seen going into the ruins. Legends state that lord Teagel excavated beneath the manor and stored much of his accumulated fortune within the tunnels but no one has ever been able to verify if this is true or not and since it is now overrun with all sorts of foul beasts, this legend may never be verified.

The Nameless Inn
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Here you will find an inn alive with its own consciousness, brimming with curios, 'tamed' monsters and intriguing characters from all races. This serves as a resting locale as well as a discussion center, all nestled within the depths of the Underdark. However, caution is advised; one of the proprietors, a Drow, finds herself on her kin's "most wanted" list, and that seemingly ordinary cloak by the entrance? It could very well be a cloaker in disguise . . .

Welcome to the mysterious world of the Nameless Inn, a place shrouded in mystery and whispered legends. Nestled in the depths of the Underdark within this secluded trading outpost, the inn is a subject of many tales and few truths.

The Nameless Inn is not an ordinary inn. The outside never seems to look the same from one day to another, it holds ancient magics from centuries past, appearing different from person to person. Many say the inn never looks the same.

It serves as a sanctuary, a respite from the relentless dangers of the subterranean wilds. The inn is governed by a set of rules, chief among them being a strict prohibition against combat within its walls. This law ensures that all who seek shelter under its roof, regardless of their race or business, are afforded protection. This protection is a rare commodity, and as such, the inn demands a substantial fee for its services.

The inn is owned and operated by Chaelsi, a mysterious and regal drow, a drow elf whose reputation is as solid as her reputation suggests. Chaelsi had added to the inn's unique charm over the years but ensures that its rules are strictly enforced.

For those who rent rooms here, the inn might represent many possibilities. It could be a place to rest and prepare for the next leg of their journey or it could simply be a nice place to rest and relax while traders sell goods here.

So, welcome to the Nameless Inn. The doors are always open, but remember, behave yourself and abide by its rules, for they are the thin line between safety and peril . . .

Velkyn'keeshe
The World of Greyhawk & The World of Greyhawk Wiki
The current year for our World of Greyhawk campaign is set during 579CY.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

Velkyn'keeshe (pronounced: Velkyn-Keeshe) is a small drow outpost of the city of Orthae Qu'lith. It is specifically used to collect slaves captured in various raids before taking them to the city as workers or sacrifices to Lolth. The commander of the outpost was Ilvara Druu’zel of House Druu’zel and her senior officials were Ezra Quenthel of House Quenthel and Jezzara Thex of House Thex.

Velkyn'keeshe (Drowic for 'Unseen Dagger') is a small drow outpost in the Northdark. It is subject to the laws and dictates of Orthae Qu'lith, and was established as a joint operation between Houses Druu’zel, Quenthel, and Thex, although recently tensions have flared up between House Qhenthel and Thex. Its purpose is to collect slaves captured in various raids, before taking those captives to Orthae Qu'lith to be workers or sacrifices to Lolth.

Velkyn'keeshe is located high in a cavern, built 150 feet above its rocky floor. The outpost consists of a series of small caves in the cavern walls and four hollowed-out stalactites connected by walkways, stairs, and rope bridges. The towers are concealed by the thick webs of giant spiders stretched below them, so that only the lowermost parts of the stalactites are visible from the cavern floor.

Three caves and two hanging towers surrounding a platform make up the main part of the outpost, housing its drow warriors. The largest of the hanging towers is reserved for the priestesses and the shrine of Lolth, while the other is a guard tower opposite the cave used to hold slaves. North of the slave pen is the den of the outpost's quaggoth servants.

Velkyn'keeshe, being just a small slaver's outpost subject to the great city of Orthae Qu'lith, has a simple power structure. At its head is the Mistress of Velkyn'keeshe, the drow elf, Ezra Druu’zel, with a junior priestess present to learn from the mistress. Below both priestesses are the elite drow males, and below them were the garrison's warriors and quaggoth servants. Since the outpost's founding, the outpost has changed leadership three times, being led each time by a High Priestess of House Druu’zel. During that time House Druu’zel has supplied the most elites and soldiers, as well as the most young priestesses, "House Quenthel and Thex have provided fewer since they are smaller houses", though the male scion that House Quenthel sent held the spot of Captain for over nearly a century before he was demoted.

As of 579CY, Velkyn'keeshe is being led by Mistress Ilvara Druu’zel, with a single Druu’zel junior priestess under her command. Her captain of the guard was at one point the respected Jordayn Druu’zel, until she replaced him as both a captain and her lover with the younger male Ezra Quenthel, whos skill is hardly worth mentioning but Ilvara approves of him so for now he retains his position.

The shrine of Lolth is the main public shrine of Lolth found in the Northdark of the city of Orthae Qu'lith. It is overseen by several acolytes from various noble houses.

The shrine is constructed within a large cavern located in Northdark "the northern section of the city" beneath the surface in the Underdark, accessible by the tunnels known locally as the Shadows.

The cavern housing the shrine of Lolth is set behind a wall of rock, with a single entrance marked by fine-quality stonework. The entrance is accessible by a small stone bridge flanked on either side by statues of drow priestesses. The shrine proper is accessible by a descending second, vaulted bridge that is illuminated with neon indigo luminescence.

The shrine is elegantly beautiful in its design. Built atop a rocky outcropping, its circular platform features a spider-web design on the ground that radiates outward from a central throne. Eight leg-like appendages extend from the platform, constructed in a style that is distinctly drow in design.

The shrine of Lolth is presided over by acolytes from various houses, a loyal devotees of Lolth who seek to help the Dark Mother gain more power than she ever previously held.

Two massive drider constructs watch over the shrine as guardians. One of these monstrosities possesses the power to bathe a high priestess in a rejuvenating beam of energy, the other releases a destructive onslaught on any foe that dares breach the shrines hallowed walls.

Orthae Qu'lith

Orthae Qu'lith, the City of Spiders, is a smaller underground drow city-state "when compared to Erelhei-Cinlu" deep beneath the surface in the Underdark. Orthae Qu'lith is one of the lesser known drow cities beneath the Flanaess, being a relatively unknown city "even with it being as older city" located in a massive, natural Underoerth cavern "properly named the Underchasm" which is located beneath the Dim Forest.

It has a population of 25,000, "15,000 of those being Drow with most of the remaining 10,000 being slaves of different races & some being visitors to the city". It is one of the primary Drow dominanted cities that deals heavily in slaves from the surface, and many of the dealings have been with the slaver organizations on the surface.

The roof of "the Underchasm" rises over 1,000 feet above the floor. The massive cavern has powerful magic embedded into it to reduce echos from all the noise coming from the city itself. The city has a single massive gate located on each end of the gigantic chasm allowing entrance to the city by those who are not native to Orthae Qu'lith, and both the north & south gates are heavily guarded. These gates open into the front of the city, while the city proper is heavily fortified and guarded deep within the central section of the cavern.

Orthae Qu'lith is located in a huge rectangular-shaped underground chasm, some two miles long and a thousand feet high. The drow call the the Underchasm, Verldrin Araj or "Shadowed Vengenace". The city is mainly carved from a dark colored calcite and it is filled with blue, green, and violet faerie fire. Buildings were often covered with the city's main motif: "In the service of Lolth".

Orthae Qu'lith is mostly built on the floor of the Underchasm but above the natural bottom of its cavern and many large stuctures are built into the walls and ceiling of this massive underground chasm that house the drow noble houses which watch over the city from above. A total of around 40 drow houses exist in the city, eight of which are noble houses. Buildings of note in the city include guilds for female and male fighters as well as for wizards, and a grand temple of Lolth "Fane of Lolth" at its eastern end. In a typical drow fashion, Orthae Qu'lith is run on the basis of several competing houses led by matron mothers, including a local branch of the Drez`lyn family.

Though the majority of its citizens are drow, it also houses a number of members of other races at a given time who are allowed to stay in the Eastway District. Besides the presence of slaves . . . beholders, illithid, githyanki, aboleths and other non drow races have been known to visit the city at times.

The city is heated and illuminated by a large, 1,000-foot-tall rock column named Kyorlin Alva "the Watching Light". The Archmage of the city casts a fire spell at its base each night, creating a band of heat that slowly travels up the column, eventually dying out at the peak and then descending. This "lava-like" glow provides both heat and light to the city, and the rising and falling band of heat serves as a clock.

Ruling Houses
1) House Drez`lyn
2) House Vendrea
3) House Tier`Dal
4) House Mizzra
5) House Naezrym
6) House Kenafae
7) House Druu’zel
8) House Daelryn

Drow from Orthae Qu'lith tend to be very well equipped and well trained for the Underdark. It is perfectly ordinary for them to be equipped with adamantine weapons, shields and elven chain mail and field plate mail with great enhancement bonus.

The city has many different houses, all of which vie for power. As it is a matriarchal society, however, only female drow truly hold any real power, especially the high priestesses of Lolth from the ruling eight houses. Most of the ruling noble houses are built on higher elevations which allows them to be easier to defend in case of attack.

Officially, the city is under the rule of the Ruling Council of Eight, composed of the eight matron mothers of the first (and most powerful) eight houses which is governed by the ruling house of House Drez`lyn. For many centuries—as long as any living drow could remember—it has been under the indirect rule of House Drez`lyn which is governed by Matron Mother Yvonn Drez`lyn, also known as Matron Drez`lyn, perhaps the most powerful de facto ruler the city has ever seen. House Drez`lyn has been the First House of Orthae Qu'lith for centuries of uncontested power.

Although drow culture is matriarchal, a few male drow in the city hold "some" political power, including Kren Drez`lyn, the archmage of the city, and Bregan Tanor'Thar, leader of the mercenary band D'Aerthe Phaeril, which is often utilized by House Drez`lyn. Despite it being a lesser known city compared to other major drow cities within the Underdark, the ancient drow city of Orthae Qu'lith stays out of the business of other rival drow cities to conduct it's own affairs.

Over the many centuries, Orthae Qu'lith has gained the respect from other drow cities and is well respected "mostly, out of fear" from most other underdark cities in the region. It continues to conduct slave operations on the surface and it still has dealings with the slaver organizations to keep the slave population up.
